Camping Asin sits inside Đerdap National Park on the banks of the Danube — Serbia's largest national park and Europe's most dramatic river gorge. The Danube narrows to just 140 metres here and plunges 90 metres deep, with limestone cliffs rising 500 metres above the water.
The campsite has 12 pitches for tents, caravans and campervans, with electricity, water and a small shop on site. From camp you can visit the remains of a Roman military road carved into the gorge cliff face, the medieval Golubac Fortress at the park's entrance, and the archaeological site of Lepenski Vir — one of Europe's oldest known settlements.
About 140 km from Belgrade via the main road, Đerdap is an easy first or last stop on a Balkan road trip. Watch for the 40-metre rock sculpture of Decebalus carved into the Romanian side of the gorge — one of the most surprising sights on the Danube.
